Andromedia was founded in San Francisco in May 1995 by Jamie Cohan, Scott Capdevielle, Kent Godfrey, Sean English and Logan Bruns. It merged with LikeMinds in 1998. The company was acquired by Macromedia on December 1, 1999 for about US$ 280 million in cash and stock. ARIA was rebranded as Macromedia Aria and LikeMinds became Macromedia LikeMinds .
